Schneider Electric: Keeping Up With IoT: PUE, Energy, and Micro Data Centers at Gartner Data Center Conference 2015

December 15, 2015 Schneider Electric

Victor Avelar, Director of  the Schneider Electric Data Center Science Center at Schneider Electric speaks on keeping up with IoT: PUE, energy, and micro data centers at Gartner Data Center Conference 2015

Abstract: Traditional data center efficiency metrics may be misleading, or worse, reaching a point of diminishing returns. Is it time for a more holistic view? We'll present research challenging traditional thinking around raising IT inlet temperatures as the next big efficiency improvement, and evaluate the associated reliability risk. We’ll share recommendations for data center operators to consider before raising temperatures and discuss how converged, edge computing micro data centers are likely responses to this energy challenge.
