Happy workers make a happy bottom line
Is there a business benefit to happy employees? Indeed, there is. It’s all about improved productivity which leads to improved results. I will show you some compelling proof points below.

There’s another advantage to employee training that also helps the business, and that’s employee satisfaction. Employees are your best assets but you may be surprised to learn just how much happy employees can affect improved productivity and your business’ success.
Improved productivity – what the research shows
There has been a lot of research in this area, and it confirms repeatedly that employee satisfaction makes a significant difference in business growth. Here are a few examples:
- A 5-year study cited in Inc. magazine found that “an increase in job satisfaction is directly related to a 6.6 percent increase in improved productivity per hour.”
- An analysis in the Harvard Business Review found up to 31 percent more improved productivity and 37 percent higher sales “when employees are happy or satisfied.”
- An experiment in Britain, reported in Forbes, found that simply making employees happy (by having them watch a comedy show for instance) immediately improved productivity by up to 20%.
How training helps
There are many ways to improve employee satisfaction. Surprisingly, most of these ways are not about money or promotions. One survey found that what employees want most is “Full Appreciation of Work Being Done.” A pat on the back goes a long way!
Another way to promote happiness is to provide training opportunities. In a blog published by Econsultancy, Chris Lake writes that training is one of the best ways to “boost employee satisfaction levels and staff retention.” It increases morale and demonstrates that the company is committed to helping employees advance.
