Keeping school in session

The Bainbridge Island School District, located on a beautiful island in Puget Sound, is a 35-minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle, Washington. In this island environment where severe storms and power glitches are common, managing a network of 1 data center and 38 data closets became challenging for the resource limited IT staff. Efficient monitoring of the physical infrastructure was required so that system uptime could be maintained.

The goal was to provide stable data center and network services across the multi-building, multicampus school district. Schneider Electric offered both EcoStruxureTM IT Expert Mobile Insights app and their Service Bureau in order to simplify remote monitoring and alarm management on and off hours.“Off hours” monitoring and troubleshooting work was reduced to minutes instead of hours. IT and administrative staff experienced peace of mind knowing that Schneider Electric Service Bureau experts were acting as an extra set of eyes and monitoring the data center on a 24/7 basis.
