Benefits of Localized Data Centers on the Edge

Centralized data centers in the cloud were not designed for today’s critical business applications.  Many business functions must be supported locally, by compute closer to the users to store or large amounts of data, provide redundancy, or to provide increased security or reduced latency. This session focuses on what a localized edge data center is, the different types available and how a localized data centers are great solutions to add capacity quickly, reduce latency, and enable secure ongoing management through edge computing.  Real world case studies are presented and insight into the future is discussed.

July 19th: 10.30am-11.10am
Ivonne Valdes, VP, Cloud & Service Provider Segment

New Open Standard for Data Center Availability

The Green Grid’s upcoming Open Standard for Data Center Availability (OSDA) is a new metric that promises to modernize data center level classification, similar to how PUE modernized data center power usage.

The Green Grid began development of the new metric because today’s modern data centers require a dynamic availability model that will allow the information and communications technology (ICT) industry to continue embracing data center innovation while driving toward new levels of sustainability and energy efficiency.

In this session, Lex Coors and Ivonne Valdes introduce OSDA and explain how it will drive the key availability requirements of existing and future data centers. They also discuss how today’s fast-moving ICT industry has a continuous need for dynamically changing designs and power sources – and the ways OSDA will allow for related data center innovations.

Learn all about The Green Grid’s new OSDA, how ICT organizations will benefit from it, and how you can contribute to its development.
